Vision

Vision

This vision is part of the talk given by Prof. Dr. med. Ania C. Muntau on behalf of the Hamburg HCC.HITT Team at the BMBF hearing on the 4th of March 2021.

  • Hamburg Center for Child Healthcare Innovation, Translation and Treatment.
This is the title of the project that led to the successful application of Kinder-UKE in Hamburg to member of the new Center of Child and Youth Health.

    What is our vision?

Doubtless all partnering sites will agree that the overarching goal for a future center is a holistic, patient-centered view, a whole-life care concept that takes into account familial, social, economic and environmental factors to ensure best medical care and improvement of quality of life for as many children as possible. Our best partners will be patients and parents as well as their advocacy groups and they need to be integrated into planning and decision making processes.

We urgently need diagnostic and therapeutic innovation.

We urgently need to combine efforts for target identification and proof-of-concept studies.

We urgently need evidence based treatment regimens relying on harmonized protocols to accelerate outcome improvement and to minimize off-label procedures.

It is mandatory to overcome the digitalization backlog in Germany. We need big data and systems medicine approaches combined with e-health programs to serve the patient by providing the whole information from the worldwide data pool to optimize and tailor care concepts to the patient’s needs.

We are ready to join forces and share knowledge and infrastructures and consider the future center as a fantastic opportunity to sustainably improve somatic and mental health of Germany’s children.
