Innovative studies open up promising opportunities for new cancer therapies and offer patients the chance to benefit early on from potentially effective treatments that are not yet established.
Patients with cancer often have the opportunity to participate in current studies involving innovative therapies. These are usually therapy optimization studies or investigations that focus on evaluating new therapies. Such studies may be of particular interest to cancer patients if the known treatment methods are not satisfactory and/or no other promising therapy is (or is no longer) available.

Treatment Offer for Patients with Advanced Cancer
In our study, we aim to investigate a psychotherapeutic program for patients with advanced cancer and high psychological distress. The study is funded by the German Cancer Aid (Deutsche Krebshilfe).
Background
A serious physical illness can bring profound changes and losses. These may include fears of death or dying, fears of losing autonomy or dignity, concerns about being a burden to others, or feelings of meaninglessness.
These burdens often affect our interpersonal relationships. Psychodynamic psychotherapy can help patients find ways to cope with losses, changes, and relationship conflicts that accompany a serious physical illness.
