Heart research -
from molecular mechanisms towards therapeutic application

Our experimental research aims to improve our current unterstanding about the function of the non-fainling and failing heart as well as our knowledge about the action of cardiavascular medication. We focus on molecular mechanisms of heart failure, hypertrophic cardiomyophathy and therapeutic treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Our methods inculude classic pharmacolocigal and elektophysiological methods, protein biochemistry, mouse genetics and stem cell/tissue engineering techniques.

Human engineered heart tissue

One of our main research interests is the generation and analysis of engineered heart tissues (EHTs). This video features the process of making EHTs starting from a human skin biopsy.
