Anatomy is taught in Hamburg since the founding of the university in 1919.
Currently there are two anatomical institutes with different research areas:
the Institute of Anatomy and Experimental Morphology, which is headed by Prof. Dr. Udo Schumacher
and the Institute of Neuroanatomy, which is headed by Prof. Dr. Gabriele M. Rune.
