Project group routine data I

  • Description
  • Description

The Routine Data I research group works on research projects based on routinely collected data. For this purpose, either routinely collected statutory health insurance claims data are analyzed separately or combined with further administrative data by e.g., the Federal Statistical Office Germany.

With the help of this data, various research projects are processed. Major topics include osteoporotic and fragility fractures of older people, and mental health. This research groups aims at evaluating complex interventions regarding their effectiveness and cost-effectiveness. Furthermore, epidemiologic research questions are investigated, for example the regional variation and structural differences of health conditions and treatments.

The typically large and comprehensive data enable the use of complex statistical methods. For example, recent machine learning methods are applied. The retrospective cohort studies analyzed by the research group require a quasi-experimental study design that, in contrast to randomized controlled studies, requires extensive balancing to control the selection bias.
