The Faculty of Medicine of Universität Hamburg, together with the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), trains 2,800 medical students and 600 dental students. The UKE and its subsidiaries alone have 1,629 beds available for this purpose. Bedside training is supported by the university outpatient clinics and theoretical institutes.

The UKE ensures the care of all Hamburg citizens and provides special treatment for other national and international patients. 2,200 physicians and scientists work in state-of-the-art buildings that enable efficient processes to offer all patients cutting-edge medicine at the highest level. In short, the UKE is a university hospital where the unity of research, teaching and patient care is lived hand in hand - for the benefit of the patients.
