  • Description

The research focus of the Professorship of Interdisciplinary Health Care Epidemiology is in the field of health care epidemiology. Research topics are located at the interface of health services research, health economics and epidemiology. Interdisciplinary questions of health services research are analyzed empirically - mainly based on data from multicenter, prospective cohort studies and large longitudinal studies that are publicly available to the research community. This group primarily uses methods from the fields of microeconometrics and panel econometrics.

One of the main topics is successful and healthy aging. The determinants of health and well-being (e.g., impact of certain diseases on well-being) in old age are examined. A second focus is in the area of physical activity (as a modifiable lifestyle factor) for disease prevention. A third focus is in the area of long-term care. A fourth focus examines issues related to psychosocial health and determinants of health, such as stigma, among informal caregivers and care recipients.
