Description
The research focus of the Professorship of Interdisciplinary Health Care Epidemiology is in the field of health care epidemiology. Research topics are located at the interface of health services research, health economics and epidemiology. Interdisciplinary questions of health services research are analyzed empirically - mainly based on data from multicenter, prospective cohort studies, large longitudinal studies that are publicly available to the research community, and based on our own surveys conducted through professional market research firms. This group primarily uses methods from the fields of microeconometrics and panel econometrics.
The staff members of the professorship have different areas of focus. The first one is successful and healthy aging (with an emphasis on loneliness and isolation, as well as informal care). The second focus is digital health, with an emphasis on the care of mental health conditions. The third focus is psychotherapeutic care. In particular, the study of patients' preferences regarding psychotherapy and their relationship to clinically relevant outcomes. The fourth focus is on mental health in older adults (e.g., prevalence and risk factors of late-life depression). The fifth focus is on factors that hinder or facilitate access to health care for women in the menopausal transition. The sixth focus is physical activity and health services research in physical therapy. In particular, examining how AI can support the optimization of treatments.
