Welcome to the Department of Pediatric Radiology

The Department of Pediatric Radiology is responsible for the medical imaging procedures required for the diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents who are patients at the UKE.

Our team comprises physicians, radiologists and medical technicians who have trained in this subspeciality of radiology. They have the relevant special skills required to obtain the high-quality images needed.

The Pediatric Radiology Department at the UKE offers the whole range of diagnostic imaging, including ultrasound, X-ray, computer tomography (CT) and magnet resonance tomography (MRT). Our constant concern is to select the method which causes the child the least distress. In this regard ultrasound is an excellent solution. The department boasts state-of-the-art digital equipment for image generation, presentation and archiving.

The Pediatric Radiology Department works closely with partners based in the Center and beyond in order to ensure reliable radiological findings of a suitable depth for diagnostic purposes. Examinations of children can be problematic and special expertise is needed in many situations, such as evaluating newborn and premature babies, monitoring liver and kidney disease as well as the progress of young transplant patients. Other techniques include the use of CT and MRT to diagnose congenital heart defects and tumors in children and the young.

Our website will inform you about the work of our department and the various examinations that we offer. If you would like to arrange an appointment or have any questions, please call us on the telephone numbers listed below.
