Core Facility Electron Microscopy

The Core Facility for Electron Microscopy provides expert support, training, and access to state-of-the-art ultrastructural imaging technologies, including transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and advanced 3D electron microscopy.

We are open to collaborations with biomedical and clinical researchers across all disciplines at the UKE, as well as with external collaboration partners.

Our team offers comprehensive scientific guidance throughout the entire electron microscopy workflow—from experimental design and hands-on user training to tailored support in sample preparation, imaging, and quantitative image analysis.

The facility enables high-resolution ultrastructural analysis across a broad range of biological and biomedical samples, including soft and hard tissues, organoids, cells, organelles, molecular interfaces, viruses, nanoparticles, and biomaterials.

As a central platform for translational research, we support projects spanning basic cell and tissue biology, pathology, and clinically oriented research questions.
