Welcome to the Institute of Computational Neuroscience

The Institute of Computational Neuroscience (ICNS) is part of the Center of Experimental Medicine of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf.

Our main research interest is the understanding of fundamental organizational principles of brain function and structure by means of computational analysis and modeling and the translation of our findings into clinical applications. Combining integrative approaches of computational neuroscience and neuroinformatics with extensive expertise in advanced biomedical signal and image processing, our interdisciplinary research team and its projects link the fields of neuroscience and biology with physics, computer science and mathematics.

The research activities of our two work groups “ Computational Neuroscience and Neuroinformatics ” and “ Image Processing and Medical Informatics ” have been continuously supported by third-party funding (e.g., by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG).
