Clinical Trials Office Portfolio

The Department of Hematology and Oncology has conducted clinical research since the early 1980s. With the employment of clinical trial coordinators in 2000, the Clinical Trials Office has further developed to one of the largest institutions on the campus, coordinating and administrating clinical trials according to AMG (Arzneimittelgesetz, German laws on medical drugs). Currently, we administer more than 70 trials, in which most are interventional trials along with a couple of observational trials with a focus on leukemia and gastrointestinal tumors.

Furthermore, we conduct trials in all major tumor entities such as myeloma, non Hodgkin lymphoma, sarcoma, and lung cancer. Six of our open trials are phase I and phase I/II trials, and 18 open trials are phase II trials.

Another 70 trials are administered after active recruitment, and patients are further monitored. In 2012 more than 170 patients were newly enrolled into interventional trials, and in 2015 we were able to recruit more than 280 patients in such trials.

Our team consists of clinical trial coordinators, IT specialists, and a commercial clerk. All currently recruiting trials can be found in our database (TrialFinder). Furthermore, you will also find cancer trials of all other UCCH departments and major outpatient clinics in Hamburg, resulting in the most comprehensive cancer trial database for the Hamburg area.
