Welcome to the University Cardiac Arrest Center Hamburg (UCACH)

We at the UCACH aim at further increasing the number of patients who can be discharged from the UKE after cardiovascular arrest and resuscitation with good treatment results.

The care of patients with sudden cardiovascular arrest is a big medical and organizational challenge. It is crucial that there is a closely meshed cooperation between all disciplines involved to obtain the best possible result for the patients. This is why the University “Cardiac Arrest Center” (UCACH) was found at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in 2015 in order to take care of the patients in an interdisciplinary, sustainable and better way after their resuscitation (Post-Resuscitation Care). The following hospitals cooperate under the roof of the UCACH:

Department of Intensive Care Medicine

Department of General and Interventional Cardiology

Department of Cardio surgery and Vascular Surgery

Department of Anesthesiology

Department of Neurology

The Center is supposed to increase the number of patients being discharged from hospital with a good neurological result after application of standardized methods and clinical treatment pathways. The foundation of such centers has proved its worth in other European countries, and resuscitation experts have also demanded it for Germany.

There are regular meetings within the Center to further optimize the joint treatment concepts. The resuscitation training at the UKE and the promotion and execution of research projects are further key goals.
