Specialized outpatient care

Specialized outpatient care is an offer for patients with certain rare or very complex diseases with the aim of improving their care. The offer is covered by statutory health insurance.

In the specialized outpatient care, doctors of different disciplines work together in a team to coordinately improve the medical care. All team members are particularly qualified for the treatment of the respective illness and have already treated many patients with this disease. The specialized outpatient care team ensures that all necessary and available specialized outpatient care related examinations and treatments are available when required. If necessary, non-medical professional groups and social services can also be included.

A specialized outpatient care is offered jointly by hospitals and general practitioners. The scope of the diagnostic and therapeutic service offer is the same, that is, irrespective of the respective treatment site. You are treated with the same expertise in all areas and according to the current therapy standard. Afflictions that are directly related to the treatment in the specialized outpatient care (therapies, complications and acute unwanted treatment outcomes) are also treated in the specialized outpatient care. An additional medical care is provided outside the specialized outpatient care and in the usual structures.
