BetweenLanguages - Curriculum for the nationwide minimum qualification of community interpreters

In cooperation with the Volkshochschule Hamburg , the UKE Academy for Training and Career and the non-governmental organization SEGEMI , measures to qualify community interpreters are designed, implemented, evaluated and documented. The curriculum will be made public available. The basis for this project are the “Quality standards and minimum requirements for the qualification of interpreters in social work”, which was developed in the previous project.

Objective and structure of the project

The quality standards and minimum requirements for the qualification of interpreters in social work (AM15-00076) developed in the previous project are to be transferred into a curriculum that will be tested in different types of implementation (full-time vs. part-time). In the course of this, a total of maximum of 60 participants will be qualified. The quality assurance of this pilot is carried out through a comprehensive scientific process / outcome evaluation.

As a sustainable contribution the evaluation results, all content and structural framework conditions as well as the curriculum itself will be published for all interested education providers for possible use or adaptation.

Project summary

The project is divided into six modules: didactic, content and structural conception of the measures (module 1a), recruiting and training of lecturers (M 1b), planning and public relations (M 2a), recruiting and selection of participants (M 2 b), Implementation of one full-time qualification measure (M 3a) and two part-time qualifications (M 3b), evaluation of the measures (M 4), consolidation of the qualification (M 5), dissemination: curriculum & final conference, (M 6). An advisory board will accompany the project.
