Research Focus and Main research questions

Our research focuses on thepathophysiology and molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases using genetic-molecular, biological, epidemiological, and bioinformatics and statistical methods. Combined in systems medicine approaches we aim at the identification of regulatory networks and the molecular characterization of candidate genes. In large-scale, genome-wide association and expression analyses, we investigate the relation of genetic variants and cardiovascular phenotypes/biomarkers as well as gene expression and additional omics data.
