Joint program parts for wet lab researchers and psychosocial researchers
In order to facilitate more interaction and the opportunity to make contacts with regard to joint projects in cancer research, we will again offer wet lab researchers and psychosocial researchers joint program parts.
Please note that all program parts for psychosocial researchers will take place on Friday, July 3 only.
Hubertus Wald Junior Investigator Award for Oncology Research, Junior Investigator Award for Psychsocial Cancer Research & Poster Award
Presentations from all junior researchers will be evaluated by a committee of young scientists to nominate the most outstanding projects presented and to select the 2026 recipients of the Hubertus Wald Junior Investigator Award for Oncology Research, the Junior Investigator Award for Psychosocial Cancer Research as well as the UCC Hamburg Poster Award.
UCC Hamburg Research Fellowship
Junior physician scientists who aim to pursue an experimental research project in the lab full-time for one year may apply for the UCC Hamburg Research Fellowship. The applicants present their project proposals in a special session at the Retreat.

NEW: Science Slam
Have you ever wanted to present your research in a creative way, free from the constraints of PowerPoint and heavy jargon? We're happy to announce that we'll be holding a Science Slam during the UCC Hamburg Research Retreat for the first time! The format is open to everyone this year, regardless of career stage or discipline.
Here's how it works:
- 5 minutes per presentation
- Explain your research in an entertaining and accessible way
- Slides, props, demonstrations, stories — anything is allowed
- Audience-friendly: no expert knowledge required
- At the end, a committee of young researchers will vote for their favorite presentation which will receive an award
Whether you want to be unconventional, surprising, visual, or simply tell a great story about your work, the Science Slam at the Retreat is your stage! Interested? Select the Science Slam presentation option in the registration process.
