Start of the EnTree Study 2027

After completion of the development and pilot phase, interested children and their parents can participate in a feasibiliy study from January 2027 to November 2027. The conducted study will assess the feaisbiliy and implementation of EnTree and all its components. Interested families need to be engaged with the outpatient program of the Department for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (KJP) at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf.

What steps are involved in study participation?

  • 1. Screening: Verification that all necessary inclusion criteria for study participation are met.
  • 2. Study Enrollment: Informed consent and explanation provided to affected children and their parents/legal guardians.
  • 3. Baseline data collection: Baseline symptom evaluation using standardized questionnaires.
  • 4. EnTree + Treatment: (5 weeks) App-based digital children’s book accompanied by weekly sessions with a child and adolescent psychotherapist.
  • 5. First Follow-up: (after 5 weeks) Post-intervention symptom evaluation using standardized questionnaires.
  • 6. Second Follow-up: Repeated symptom evaluation 9 weeks after completion of EnTree.

Participation Requirements:

Children:

  • Aged 6 to 11 years (inclusive) at the time of consent
  • Engaged with the outpatient program of the Department for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry;
  • Diagnostic process initiated within the KJP;
  • Sufficient German language skills;
  • Ability to comply with the study protocol (as assessed by the treating clinical team);
  • Capacity to provide informed consent (based on cognitive abilities);
  • Consent from all legal guardians;
  • No acute risk of self-harm or harm to others;
  • No existing medical contraindications (as assessed by the treating clinical team);
  • No cognitive contraindications.

Legal Guardians:

  • Connected to at least one child within the KJP outpatient clinic;
  • Sufficient German language skills;
  • Ability to comply with the study protocol;
  • Capacity to provide informed consent (based on cognitive abilities).
