Thoracic Oncology Consultation
The thoracic Oncology consultation is intended for patients with tumors in the chest region. Our focus is on specialized care for patients with malignant tumors of the lung, pleura, as well as lung metastases (spread of other malignant tumors to the lungs).
In the area of malignant lung tumors, the following types can be distinguished simply:
- non-small cell lung carcinomas (abbreviation: NSCLC)
- the – significantly less common – small cell lung carcinomas (abbreviation: SCLC)
Lung carcinomas remain the leading cause of cancer-related death in Germany, despite numerous advances in recent years. However, with the use of modern diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, a curative treatment approach is possible in many cases. Additionally, even in advanced and potentially incurable conditions, a variety of promising treatment options are available.
The key to optimal treatment is precise diagnostics coupled with professional and interdisciplinary collaboration among experienced experts. Our goal is to offer all patients the best possible, personalized treatment plan. In addition to all established treatment options, the range of therapies we provide is continually expanded with innovative medications and treatment concepts through clinical studies.
