Area A: Projects in Area A will investigate the mechanisms of immune regulation that are intrinsic to the liver’s unique potential to induce immunological tolerance. We will furthermore decipher the molecular and spatial determinants of autoimmunity and autoaggression that eventually lead to the break of tolerance and the development of chronic diseases of the liver and biliary tract.
