Prof. Dr. Ulrike Protzer is a German virologist and physician-scientist at the Technical University of Munich and Helmholtz Munich. She has led the Institute of Virology there since 2007, and her research focuses mainly on hepatitis B virus, virus-host interactions, and the development of new antiviral and immune-based therapies. In addition to her hepatitis work, she also became widely known for her research and public expertise on SARS-CoV-2 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
