Joachim Prölß, Director of Patient and Nursing Management (DPP) (on the left in the photo), and Prof. Dr. Dr. Martin Härter, Director of the Institute and Polyclinic for Medical Psychology, welcomed the attendees at the Erika-Haus. Together with coordinator Anne Wiechmann, DPP, they lead the Patient-Orientation Forum. “Even after more than ten award ceremonies, it’s always great to see how many dedicated employees work at the UKE. This year, the UKE Award even set a record for the number of applications. Fantastic!” they said happily. An interprofessional jury reviews all submitted projects and evaluates them for conceptual coherence, practical relevance, effectiveness, participation, communication, patient-centeredness, and patient safety.
Among the main winners are Björn Glöer and his colleagues from the Department of Dermatology and Venereology for their “Oncology Nursing Consultation for Patients Receiving Targeted Immunotherapy.” To ensure that oral therapy can be used effectively, educating patients through in-depth counseling and support is an essential component.

Additional prizes went to the following oncology teams: “Scalp Cooling to Reduce Chemotherapy-Induced Alopecia” from the Department of Gynecology and the “PASAGERO Project (Patient Safety in German Radiation Oncology)” from the Department of Radiation Therapy and Radiation Oncology.
