With more than 20,000 cancer patients annually, the University Cancer Center Hamburg is one of the largest cancer centers in northern Germany. In addition to providing clinical care for our patients, we are also involved in research and teaching and have established a network of many reliable partners.
The Hubertus Wald Tumor Center – University Cancer Center Hamburg (UCC Hamburg) brings together all clinics and institutes involved in oncological diagnostics, therapy, and research within the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) and collaborates with numerous partners in healthcare, self-help, and science in Hamburg.
As a leading oncology center of the German Cancer Aid (DKH), we treat patients at the highest level and are committed to innovative care concepts.
In addition, we are engaged in wide-ranging research activities dedicated to the urgent task of finding answers to important unresolved questions regarding the development, treatment, diagnosis, therapy, and prevention of cancer.
In doing so, we promote the next generation of medical scientists in teaching and continuing education and rely on the participation of patients and their families at many levels of our work.

The UCC Hamburg has been continuously certified as a German Cancer Aid Center of Excellence in Oncology. In addition to providing excellent cancer treatment in accordance with the highest international standards and developing new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, the center is committed to supporting patients and their families with a wide range of special assistance and counseling services.
The various levels and structures of the tumor center work closely together: In addition to a coordinating core unit, which is responsible for defining and implementing central tasks and also serves as a central point of contact for all tumor patients, the competence network thrives on the extremely cooperative collaboration of all clinics and institutes involved in cancer medicine and cancer research at the UKE.
Interdisciplinary collaboration is important to us, not only within the UKE, but also with our partners beyond the city limits. We are a network of expertise consisting of a group of centers, clinics, oncology practices, self-help groups, research partners, and other partner institutions that work together to fulfill the mission of a Comprehensive Cancer Center of the German Cancer Aid.
To provide the best possible care for patients and their families, we offer a comprehensive range of treatments and various consultation hours in collaboration with our partners within and outside the UKE. Our oncology navigators provide support in navigating the accompanying treatment options.
A multitude of outstanding scientific developments in the life sciences and related disciplines have, through the dedicated efforts of all involved - natural scientists, physicians, engineers, computer scientists, and others - led to a significantly improved understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of cancer over the past decades.
At UCC Hamburg, we face the challenges together, aiming to combat cancer more effectively in the future through clinical, translational, and experimental research.
We work together to provide the best possible care for our oncology patients - from case discussions in tumor boards to patient referrals, studies, and joint collection of research data.
In addition to our joint care responsibilities, we regularly offer training and continuing education opportunities for medical colleagues and caregivers.
Exchange and networking between all stakeholders in cancer medicine are important to us. UCC Hamburg events provide a platform for this. In addition to conferences, patient days, medical training courses, and the UCC Hamburg research retreat, we offer events on various entities and interdisciplinary topics.
