The Newsweek ranking “World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2026” is produced in collaboration with the market research institute Statista and is based on a multi-stage evaluation process. Several thousand hospitals worldwide were evaluated in the field of oncology, with the 300 highest-rated hospitals worldwide being included in the ranking.
The assessment is essentially based on three pillars:Firstly, an international online survey of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and hospital managers, who were able to recommend clinics within their own field of expertise (self-recommendations were excluded). Secondly, structured quality and performance indicators were included, such as medical expertise and specialized care. Thirdly, patient evaluations and experiences were taken into account, provided that these were internationally comparable.
In the ranking for oncology (best specialized hospitals for oncology), Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin took 12th place, Heidelberg University Hospital took 18th place, and Hamburg-Eppendorf University Hospital took 24th place, making them the top three hospitals in Germany in the field of oncology. The data collection for the 2026 edition covers the period from July 2024 to July 2025. The aim of the ranking is to highlight oncology centers that stand out for their high professional reputation, specialized expertise, and perceived quality of care.
We are delighted with this outstanding rating.
