Cancer is often accompanied by emotional stress, anxiety, and physical discomfort. At UCC Hamburg, we accompany you during and after your cancer treatment with therapy-accompanying services to provide you with the best possible support.
Emotional strain, anxiety, and the stress that results from them are common companions of a cancer diagnosis. Physical symptoms caused by the disease itself or by side effects of treatment can further affect a patient’s well-being. Supportive, therapy-accompanying services complement cancer treatment. They help implement measures to relieve disease-related symptoms and treatment-related side effects, and to improve overall quality of life.
These areas include psycho-oncology (psychological support), palliative care (symptom management), support groups, nutritional counseling, and social counseling. These services aim to improve quality of life and to stabilize both psychological and physical well-being during cancer and its treatment. Many of these can also be used after cancer therapy has been completed.
If you are unsure which option suited for you, you are welcome to contact our Oncoguide or discuss the topic with your treating physicians at your next appointment.
Dealing with a cancer diagnosis is as individual as the people affected themselves. Some want to gather as much information as possible, while others need distance, space, and time to focus on themselves first.
We have compiled a selection of information materials for you.
At UCC Hamburg, we offer a variety of events for patients, caregivers, and anyone interested. For example, our monthly event series “Living with Cancer & in Dialogue” presents topics from cancer care with a holistic approach to health and well-being. Events are primarily conducted in German.
