As part of our general oncology consultation hours, we offer patients the opportunity to obtain a second opinion. In addition to a detailed medical history and physical examination, we review and discuss previous diagnoses and treatments.
When you or a caregiver is affected by cancer, it often leads to uncertainty. There is a lot of information to process and decisions to make – such as choosing the best and most appropriate treatment for the condition. A second opinion can often provide reassurance and further clarity.

If necessary, the medical history is presented and discussed at one of the interdisciplinary tumor boards, and a report with the board's recommendations is prepared.
For preparation, we require the following information and documents in advance:
Please do not staple the documents together and print on one side of the paper only – this saves us work and valuable time.

The statutory health insurance covers the costs for the second opinion with a referral form. If this service has already been used in the current quarter, the second opinion will be billed as an out-of-pocket service (IGeL).
