Doktorandenbörse

  • Heinrich Pette Institute - Leibniz Institute for Experimental Virology (HPI)

The Heinrich Pette Institute - Leibniz Institute for Experimental Virology (HPI), is committed to research on the biology of different human viruses, the pathogenesis of viral diseases, the physiological defense reaction of organisms and associated problems. Our position is to be filled in the department of Virus Immunology (head Prof. Altfeld). Our group is an international group with English as official language.

Project: “Target-cell recognition and killing of HIV-1-infected cells by natural killer (NK) cells.” Natural killer (NK) cells represent an integral component of the innate immune system with a critical involvement in antiviral immunity. Nevertheless, the underlying mechanisms how NK cells recognize virus-infected cells are not fully understood. This research project aims to identify molecular patterns that enable NK cells to exert a potent antiviral response against HIV-1-infected target cells.

    We offer:

    • Intellectual and practical supervision by postdoctoral research fellows
    • Independent conduction of the experiments of the research project
    • Teaching of state-of-the-art technologies in Immunology, Virology and Cell Biology
    • Student assistant salary

    We seek:

    • Highly motivated, team-oriented medical students with interest in Immunology

If you are interested in undertaking a medical doctorate thesis at the Department of Virus Immunology or have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Christian Körner ( christian.koerner@leibniz-hpi.de ) with a short cover letter and CV.
