Conference 2013

Conference „High-risk Groups in Addiction Prevention“

This year, the German Center for Addiction Research in Childhood and Adolescence places its conference focus on high-risk groups for developing an addiction. On September 27, 2013, everybody interested is welcome to learn more about drug prevention approaches targeting high-risk groups (e.g. for children with addiction problems in their families, a low educational background and migrants). In the morning, top-class experts will give talks on the status quo of science and research. Numerous workshops in the afternoon explore issues of practice, presenting promising projects in the field of selective and indicated drug abuse prevention. Thus, participants can expand their knowledge and receive helpful suggestions for their area of expertise.

Symposium „Addicted parents... support for children in families with addiction problems“

The DZSKJ invited to its annual symposium on September 9, 2011. Experts from theory and practice were asked to give a broad overview over different aspects of this important subject - from the latest figures and facts to specific measures that help affected families.

Conference 2010

Symposium "Party until you drop? Causes and consequences of adolescent binge drinking"

During the symposium on March 26, 2010, leading experts introduced newest findings on topics such as neuroscientific fundamentals, prevalence, diagnostics and treatment of binge drinking in adolescents to an audience of 350 participants from all over Germany.

Internet Addiction: Perspectives for counselling and treatment

At the conference on November 21, 2008, leading experts introduced and discussed newest developments concerning questions on prevalence and diagnostics for internet addiction and its treatment.

Conference 2007

11th Scientific Discussion of the German Association for Addiction Research and Therapy (“DG Sucht”).Topic: Cannabis Use and Misuse.

From October 26-28, 2007, the DZSKJ hosted the 11th scientific discussion of the German Association for Addiction Research and Therapy (“DG Sucht”). Following one research focus area of the DZSKJ, the topic of the 11th Scientific Discussion in Hamburg was “Cannabis Use and Misuse”.

The German Association for addiction research and therapy is a network of active addiction researchers in Germany tighter with neighboring German-speaking countries. With regards to content, the conference broached the issue of prevalence, fundamental facts and consequences of cannabis use and misuse especially with young people. Furthermore, findings regarding neurotoxicity of the substance as well as current approaches to counselling, treatment and prevention were discussed. Renowned, leading experts were invited as speakers.
