The University Heart Center (UHC) is comprised of general and interventional cardiology units specializing in paediatric cardiology, cardiovascular surgery and paediatric heart surgery and vascular medicine. We at UHC place heavy emphasis on interdisciplinary treatment; our teams work together, discussing each individual case and developing a customized treatment plan to cater to each patient's needs.
Our integrative approach combines compassionate patientorientated care with modern, high-tech medicine, and our dedication to research ensures globally recognized innovation. Our cooperation with partner clinics and craniological practices allows for the exchange of experiences and information between experts in the fields of cardiology and heart surgery, resulting in increased efficiency and improved patient care.
As a plan hospital of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the UHC offers a high standard of medical care, comfortable rooms in attractive surroundings and friendly, customized care. More than 15,000 patients are treated at the UHC annually, receiving modern, university-level treatment for heart and cardiovascular conditions. The UHC is one of the few German clinics to offer a full spectrum of diagnostic tools and therapies for heart and cardiovascular conditions in children and adults.
In addition, we offer international patients a special service: Headed by Catarina Schlüter, the UKE International Office team meets all the needs of international patients, especially in regards to administrative and organizational issues. The department has 12 employees who work in case management, finance and marketing. The team is also responsible for all issues pertaining to guest doctors, guest researchers and students from other countries who are interested in working at the UKE.
