Hamburg has Rhythm: Cardiology specialising in electrophysiology

To better service our rhythmological patients, our clinic for cardiology, which specializes in electrophysiology, offers a complete spectrum of diagnostic and therapy approaches. The care we offer
is based on an interdisciplinary treatment concept developed in cooperation with the Clinic for Interventional Cardiology and the Cardiovascular Department. As part of our examination, patients suffering from arrhythmia are offered the opportunity to participate in a one hour consultation with highly specialized doctors. Our electrophysiology team is made up of highly-specialised physicians and specially trained personnel who diagnose and treat all forms of tachycardiac arrhythmia at a total of three heart catheter laboratories.

Modern x-ray and innovative 3-D mapping and navigation techniques (CARTO, Hansen, NavX) are the standard machines used. Bradycardia arrhythmia is treated by implanting the most modern and state-of-the art pacemakers. It is common practice for the patient to be discharged a few hours after being operated on. Treatment options utilizing implanted defibrillators can prevent patients with congenital heart defects such as Brugada Syndrome and Long-Qt-Syndrome, and patients with coronary heart disease or dilative cardiomyopathy from suffering sudden cardiac death.

Special high-tech devices for cardiac re-synchronization therapy (CRT), employed by our Cardiac Surgery Department, have been used very successfully on patients with cardiac insufficiency for the last 10 years. Our clinic offers echocardiographic optimization of the aggregate, using applications such as Tissue-Doppler as a standard procedure.
