Job and caring for somebody at home are generally seen as contradictive. The currenct research project wants to show that a compatible coexistence of job and caring is possible, especially when supported by the company and social political measures. These can be important to achieve a long-lasting, future-oriented adequate care in an ageing society. New potentials of productivity in form of highly motivated employees can be developed. This study compares individual and company-specific arrangements and strategies in four European countries (Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Poland). Expert interviews with representatives of companies/ unions and research of tariffs, employment agreements and international "best Practice" models are the basis delivering data for the study. The perspective of the concerned persons is covered by secondary analysis of European data (EUROFAMCARE, SHARE/ELSA) and another qualitative primary survey, building on the secondary analysis.
