Outline of Research Activities

The full name of this working group is "Health Care and Promotion, Self-Help- and Network-Research".

Self-help and promotion of networks have become core areas of Health Promotion. In the past, there have been several small research projects regarding this topic as well as a survey of Hamburg self-help groups by interviewing 345 contact persons of these groups. Self-help and social networks are continuous topics in teaching and practical activities.
In recent years especially structural prevention regarding the improvement of working and living conditions were analysed in correspondence with local politics and health policies. These analysis are part of Public Health Research on a wider basis and mainly have their roots in the WHO-Project "Healthy Cities". Regarding this development in research, the main focus was first of all on the cooperation between the political areas of "Health" and "Urban Development".
These aspects are extended by research regarding the intersection of different political sectors. Here, particularly regional integrated (Health-)coverage and therefore established intersectoral politics for the environment, urban development and health are focused on.
