The Project EUROFAMCARE, funded by the EU, was officially completed at the end of 2005. Since then, however, publications are continuously worked on and speeches/ lectures are held at home and abroad, mostly on invitation (EUROFAMCARE Deutsch / Englisch). We are constantly working on the transfer of findings to the practical and political field. Taking family carers and their special needs into account gains importance: especially regarding the current discussion about reforming the long term care insurance. Against this background the working group social gerontology is organising a workshop in Hamburg from Oct 5-6, 2007. Family carers from all over Germany have been invited to join and develop a concept to represent their interests. This event is financially supported by "Gemeinde Unfallversicherung Westfalen Lippe", "BSGT Hamburg" and "DAK".
