Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC)

The Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC) is comprised of groups focusing on research with a strong interest in basic cardiovascular mechanisms in health and disease. Since its foundation in 2008, the CVRC has recruited groups from the Institutes of Pharmacology, Vegetative Physiology, and the Heart Center as well as the Medical Clinic III (Nephrology) and the Clinic for Anesthesiology.
Prerequisites for inclusion into the CVRC are: competitively acquired third party funds; and the commitment to release young clinicians from their clinical responsibilities.
The CVRC is supervised by a board of directors, which elect the speaker of the CVRC and his/her substitute. The principal investigators (PIs) decide on the speaker of the PIs - all three represent the Executive Board.
The CVRC is committed to improving translational research by closely linking the expertise derived from theoretical institutes with the scientific background from working groups with a clinical perspective.
Thus the CVRC aims to train and nurture young scientists and will serve as a platform for intense dialogue among young researchers with interest in cardiovascular disease at the University Hospital Hamburg Eppendorf.
